Alexander is Managing Partner at Chavanette Advisors where he leads a team focused on driving innovation in financial infrastructure, including the design & delivery of future-focused technological solutions in the areas of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) deployment and adoption, regulated E-money advisory, digital banking & payments, and building the ecosystem for the digital economy.
In its most recent engagement, Chavanette Advisors managed the development and launch of the Universal Digital Payments Network (UDPN), a messaging infrastructure for CBDCs and regulated stablecoins. Following its launch in Davos during WEF week in January this year, the UDPN is currently in the process of conducting 14 proof-of-concept use case trials, each involving major global and regional banks, technology companies, and other financial service providers (FSPs) and institutions.
Alexander believes that a successful CBDC deployment is built around a comprehensive blueprint, developed by the central bank, that defines the strategic intent, business process, organisation, people and enabling technology.
It is this underlying vision that led Chavanette Advisors to develop an end-to-end methodology for the successful deployment and adoption of wholesale and retail CBDC. The methodology encompasses the whole CBDC ecosystem and platform, from the central bank, to commercial banks & FSPs, merchants and consumers.
Before returning to Hong Kong, where he was born and raised, Alexander was previously with Apple Inc. in Shanghai, Porsche Consulting in Stuttgart, and Monitor Deloitte in both New Delhi and London. Alexander is a graduate of the American University of Paris, where he studied International Economics & International Business.
